Crepeau, Jr., Councilmen Wi Illam Feyereisen, <br />James Wingert, Robert Woodburn, Charles Crichton. <br />Absent - None. <br />Also Present - Treasurer Donald Lamb, Engineer Donald Christoffersen, <br />Public Works Supervisor Hans Johansen, Clerk Administrator <br />Charlotte McNiesh, Deputy Clerk Dorothy Zehm. <br /> <br />REPORT OF VILLAGE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR HANS JOHANSEN <br /> <br />Public works Commit~ee Recommendations: <br />.--"--,,"." "A-c-c-es"s" Roadwa-y" "to'Jotlanna Boulevard <br />Johansen reported that he has not ordered signs indicating <br />"one-way" traffic on this access road, pending reque~t of <br />Public Works Committee that Councl I reconside~ Its decision, <br />and make this road one-way west to east, rather than east to <br />west. <br /> <br />Council advised that its action to make this street one-way <br />from east to west was based on safety, rather than utility; <br />alternative may be to close the access; one-way option Is <br />on a one year trial basis. <br /> <br />Johansen said he'd order and instal I the appropriate signs <br />as soon as received. <br /> <br />B. Utility Lines Maintenance <br />Johansen referred Council to Minutes of the Public Works <br />Meeting of 6/16/76, recommending that Council adopt the policy <br />that home-owners be responsible for sewer lines from the house <br />to the City main, and for water lines from the house to the <br />curb-box or "shut-off"; City responsible for sewer maIns <br />and water lines from curb box to mains. <br /> <br />In discussion, Counci I expressed concern as to City's polley <br />re responsibility to residents when City sewer backs up. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />After discussion, matter was referred to Lynden for his <br />recommendations re City's obligations to residents, and its <br />I iabi Ilty for damages. <br /> <br />Water Booster Station - Additional Controls <br />Johansen reported that the Public Works Committee recommends <br />the installation of Autocon controls to control ground noise <br />interference for Booster Station. (public Works Minutes of <br />6/16/76). <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />After discussion, Feyereisen moved, seconded by Woodburn, <br />that Councl I authorize the installation of the additional <br />controls by Autocon at a cost of $664.50. Motion carried <br />(Feyereisen, Woodburn, Wingert, Crepeau voting in favor of <br />the motion; Crichton abstaining). <br /> <br />D. <br /> <br />Sign Survey and Sign Peplacement <br />Johansen referred Councl I to the Public Works Committee's <br />recommendations that the survey be sent to the Public Safety <br />Committee; Public Works Committee is philosophically opposed <br />to the plan for sign replacement. <br /> <br />No Council action was taken pending response from the Public <br />Safety Committee. <br /> <br />Street Name Sign Replacement - Shorewood H<lls and Valentine Hills Areas <br />Johansen noted tha7 he plans to proceed with replacement of street <br />name signs in the Shorewood Hi lis and Valentine Hi I Is areas this year, <br />as budgeted and previously authorized. <br /> <br />-1- <br />
