CITY OF CENTERVILLE BOARD OF APPEAL & EQUALIZATION AND CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES April 25, 2018 6:30 p.m. Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their annually required Board of Appeal & Equalization meeting on April 25, 2018 at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. Mr. Ken Tolzmann introduced himself and Ms. Diana Stellmach, Anoka County (Property Tax & Records). He provided Council with an overview of statistics for the past year which included qualified versus unqualified sales, values and pertinent information involving values of homes for the community along with avenues for residents to appeal their market values. He stated that there were 64 qualified sales from October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017. He stated that the tax base rose by 7.2% and that to date there are 12 qualifying sales which will be accounted toward 2019. He reported that the median sale price for a home in Centerville went from $235,000 in 2015 to $243,000 in 2017 and he believes that the City will continue with an overall growth in in the market values for 2019. Mr. Tolzmann stated that he has received one appeal and requested to have it noted in the records. Ms. Sandra Arnold, PIN #R15-31-22-44-0005, 7244 Main Street appealed the value of her home as the home received water damage to the basement, all amenities were removed and it is unknown when the basement would be constructed again. Mr. Tolzmann stated upon confirmation of the basement being now unfinished and he recommended a reduction of$9,900 in valuation ($228,000 to $218,900). Mr. Tolzmann thanked the Council for his ability to perform services to the City of Centerville. Motion by Council Member King, Seconded by Council Member Montain to Authorize the Reduction in Valuation for PIN #R15-31-22-44-0005 of$9,000 ($228,000 to $218,900) as Recommended. All in favor. Motion carried.
