This is an additional workshop, outside of our normally scheduled one
for the second meeting of the month. The overall budget schedule is below:
September 12 Special Work Session – Debt Levy/General Fund Budget
September 26 Work Session – Capital Improvement Fund Review
Regular Meeting – Preliminary Budget and Tax Levy Adoption
October 24 Work Session – Enterprise Fund Review
November 14 Special Work Session – Final Budget Review
November 28 Regular Meeting – Final Budget and Tax Levy Adoption
Centennial Public Schools
Superintendent Dietz will be presenting, the city council, the school’s annual report and
th
some information on their upcoming levy question on the ballot, at our September 12
meeting.
A staff meeting with the schools has been set for October. In the meantime, the school
will be contacting a local surveyor to review their plat issues.
Newsletter/Utility Billing
The city’s newsletter recently went out with the July/August utility bills. This set of bills
contained our first go around of trash and recycling bills. Thanks to Kris Sweeney and
Teresa Bender for all their hard work on both the newsletter and implementing our trash
billing operation.
OSHA Training
I attended a training session on how to be prepared for an audit from the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) personnel. The training was presented by the
Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA), as part of their larger regional
safety training program, to which we subscribe. It focused on the important documents
commonly requested during an audit, how to handle questioning from an auditor if you
don’t know the answer to their questions, and how best to follow-up afterward, if there
are items you need to send them.
