<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING <br />OF CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the <br />City Council of the City of Roseville, Minnesota, was held in the <br />City Hall in said City on Monday, May 9, 1983, at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following members were present: <br />Kehr, Curley, Franke, Johnson, and Demos. <br />and, the following members were absent: <br />None. <br />Councilman Franke introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 7505 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISH~1ENT <br />OF A CITY POLICY ON NONMOTORIZED PATHWAYS <br />AND ESTABLISHING THE OFFICIAL NONMOTORIZED <br />PATHWAY SYSTEM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that there lS a need to provide <br />facilities for nonmotorized forms of transportation in the community; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these needs are not totally being met by the existing trans- <br />portation system; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is desirable to set forth the City policies which would <br />aid the public in understanding the City's perspective on nonmotorized <br />pathways; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is desirable to establish an official nonmotorized pathway <br />system for the community. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Roseville, Minnesota, as follows: <br /> <br />NONMOTORIZED PATHWAY POLICY <br /> <br />NEEDS AND GOALS <br /> <br />The nonmotorized public in Roseville has a need to travel to shopping <br />areas, schools, parks, libraries, work, and bus stops. The nonmotorized <br />public with these needs includes pedestrians, cyclists of all kinds, <br />joggers, handicapped persons, persons with infant strollers, and elderly <br />persons. <br />
