MINUTES <br />ROSEVILLE POLICE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />MAY 28, 1997 <br />The meetFng was calied to order t�y Bob King, Chairman, at 5:35 p.m. <br />Members Present: <br />Members Absent: <br />�thers Present: <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />2 <br />Bob King and Joe Ols�n. <br />Jack Weidenbach_ <br />Police Chief Paul Wood, Deputy Chief Tom Alleva, <br />Administrative Analyst Carolyn Ganz, Officers Rick Mathwig <br />and Dennis Mooney. <br />Nomination of Officers: <br />Commissioner King nominated Commissioner Qlson for Chair, Jack Weidenbach <br />far Vice Chair, and Bob King for Secretary_ Commissioner Qlson seconded_ <br />Motion passed. <br />Discussion of the Police Department Reorganization: <br />Chief Wood reviewed the reorganization of the Police Department, including the <br />new shift structure and approval by the City Council to add a Sergeant and <br />Lieutenant position. The Chief handed out a copy of the department structure with <br />three divisions and explanations. Handouts are attached. <br />Commissioner King noted that the Civil Service Commission is not included in the <br />organizational structure. CF�ief Wood said he would check into that oversigh#_ <br />3. Discussion of Lieutenant Job Description <br />Chiefi Wood handed out fihe Lieutenant's job description, which is attached. The <br />Chief said he had received input from the current sergeants on the position and <br />potential testing process. The Chief said the lieutenant would work all three shifts, <br />do street work, and be responsible for tF�e budget of the Patrol Division. <br />Commissioner King asked the Chief to better define the term "related fielcfs" under <br />the heading of Desired Quali�cations, referring to secondary education. <br />Commissioner Olson requested the Civil Service Commission have input into the <br />tesfiing process since it would be an importanfi executive [evel position. <br />
