Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes May 15, 2013 <br />Commissioners: Scot Becker, Vice Chair Jill Brisbois, Kristin Doneen, <br />Chair Gary Grefenberg, and Wayne Groff <br />Youth Commissioners: Joan Dao and Marie Siliciano (arrived at 6:40 p.m.) <br />Commissioners Absent: David Singleton and Kaying Thao (excused) <br />Youth Commissioner Absent: Julia Laden <br />Staff Present: Carolyn Curti <br />Also Present: Vicki Jacobson <br />Call to Order <br />The Human Rights Commission (HRC) meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. Chair <br />Grefenberg asked participants to introduce themselves. <br />Approve Agenda <br />Commissioner Brisbois moved and Commissioner Becker seconded a motion to approve the <br />agenda as distributed. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Approve Minutes <br />Chair Grefenberg reviewed several changes regarding comments made by the City Attorney. <br />He requested the minutes be approved subject to additional changes in the minutes Lines 192 <br />through 221. He commented he would forward his revisions to City staff. <br />Chair Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Groff seconded a motion to approve the April 17, <br />2013 meeting minutes as amended. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Public Comment <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Commission on an item not on the agenda, <br />the chair moved to the next agenda item. <br />Old Business <br />Program Planning Committee <br />Revised process for 2014 student essay contest: Committee Chair poneen stated she has not <br />heard anything further from the school Ramsey Area Middle School teacher who had asked that <br />the Commission include posters (ed. note: graphic and visual responses to the essay contest <br />question/topics) in the HRC's annual essay contest_regarding the essay contest. <br />Follow up on suggestions of youth poster contest: Chair Grefenberg reported that as requested <br />at the last meeting he had attended the most recent League of Minnesota Human Rights <br />
