I nteroffice Memo

To:
From:

Steve Sarkozy, City Manager
Cathy Bennett, Economic Development
Dennis Welsch, Community Development Director
05/18/00
Wheeler Hardware Request for TIF Assistance - PF3216

CC:
Date:
Re:

Based upon the small amount of available tax increment funds that could be provided to the
project, Wheeler Hardware has withdrawn their interest in making an application for TIF
assistance from the City ofRoseville for the redevelopment of2655 Fairview Avenue.

Wheeler is still very interested in the site and will be exploring the construction of a joint
driveway between 2655 Fairview Ave and the Industrial Equities project to the South. The joint
driveway would reduce the curb cuts onto the heavily traveled Fairview Avenue and provide an
alternate entry to the businesses to the west.

Staff will be reviewing alternate funding sources, such as special assessments, to assist in the
construction of the joint driveway and will work with Wheeler to access a Ramsey County
business loan to reduce the costs of redevelopment.

.
