SCHOOL <br />AND <br />TwIN CITIES INTERNATIONAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL <br /> <br />Submitted to: <br />City of Roseville <br /> <br />\1~~ <br />\)) <br /> <br /> <br />adj' <br /> <br />AT <br />HIGHCREST PARK <br /> <br />Building Overview <br /> <br />Highcrest Park is a 650,000 square foot multi-use building located at the intersection of Hwy 36, <br />Hwy 280 and 1-35W in Roseville, Minnesota. The building was completed in 1962 and has been <br />under the continuous ownership of Merit ex Enterprises ever since. The building has undergone a <br />variety of uses since its completion almost 40 years ago, such as research and development, bulk <br />warehouse, manufacturing, general office, telecommunications switch site and computer data <br />center. <br /> <br />Currently the building has approximately 270,000 square feet of available space for lease. <br />Existing tenants at Highcrest Park include: <br /> <br />. Unisys <br />. Honeywell <br />. State of Minnesota Department of Human Services <br />. SBC Telecommunications <br />. Micron Electronics <br />. Multek <br /> <br />Proposed Tenant's Use <br /> <br />A total of 50,000 square feet will be leased to the Minnesota International Middle School <br />(MIMS) and Twin Cities International Elementary School (TIES). Both schools are charter <br />schools that have received all necessary approvals to open for the fall of 2001. Charter schools <br />are public schools sponsored by an educational institution that grants teachers and parents more <br />freedom to develop a curriculum they feel that is best suited for meeting the goals of its students. <br />These particular schools are charged with the mission to maximize opportunities for children <br />predominately from the east African and specifically the Somali communities in the Twin Cities. <br /> <br />This building was selected by the members of the community to house the schools because of its <br />close proximity to the community to be served.
