<br />ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES FOR <br />June5, 20186:30pm <br />PRESENT:Bole,Gelbach,Heikkila, Hoag,O’Brien,Quick, Stoner,Warzecha <br />ABSENT:Baggenstoss, Newby <br />STAFF:Brokke,Christensen <br />1)INTRODUCTIONS <br />2)ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Public in attendance to speak on the youth pump track at Autumn Grove Park South. <br />3)APPROVAL OF MINUTES –May 1,2018MEETING <br />Commissioner Gelbachmoved to approve the May 1, 2018meeting minutes.Commissioner <br />Stonerseconds. Motion passed unanimously. <br />4)DISCUSSION ON YOUTH PUMP TRACK BIKE COURSE AT AUTUMN GROVE <br />PARK SOUTH <br />Staff provided background on the community interest for a youth pump track bike courseand <br />the potential for a pilot testsite on the south side of AutumnGrove Park (corner of Hamline <br />and Lydia).The pump track would consist of dirt mounds that are formed for kids to ride <br />small balance bikes on. The track would not be meant for mountain bikes or as a jump <br />course. <br />Roseville staff has been in communication with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency <br />(MPCA) as the land has ground water contamination issues. The last wellshave beensealed <br />andthe MPCA isok with a potential pump track TheconceptMaster Plan for the south side <br />of Autumn Grove Park is “courts for all sorts, courts for all sports”and remains valid. <br />Commissioner Gelbach asked about the potential dimensions of the track. Staff confirmed it <br />would be approximately a couple hundred square feet. <br />Commissioner Heikkila asked if the track would be temporary. Staff statedthat it would be a <br />pilot program. Heikkilanoted that it could be hard to take awaythe amenityif it was popular. <br />Rich McNamara from 1250 Josephine Roadhad approached staff threeyears ago about a <br />potential pump track at Cottontail Park.He believes it would be a lowcost, loweffortpilot <br />programat Autumn Grove South. <br /> <br />
