<br /> <br />Variance Board Meeting <br />City Council Chambers, 2660 Civic Center Drive <br />Minutes - Wednesday, June 6, 2007 <br /> <br />1. Call to Order <br />Acting Chair Daniel Boerigter called to order the Variance Board meeting at 5:30 p.m. and <br />reviewed the role and purpose of the Variance Board. <br /> <br />2. Roll Call & Introductions <br />City Planner Thomas Paschke called the roll. <br /> <br />Members Present: Acting Chair Daniel Boerigter; and Commissioners Barbara Martinson and <br />Jim Doherty. <br /> <br />Staff present: Community Development Director John Stark; City Planner Thomas Paschke; <br />Associate Planner Bryan Lloyd. <br /> <br />3. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />MOTION <br />Member Doherty moved, seconded by Member Boerigter, to approve meeting minutes <br />of May 2, 2007 as presented. <br /> <br />Ayes: 2 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Abstentions: 1 (Martinson) <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />4. Public Hearings <br /> <br />a. PLANNING FILE 07-025 <br />VARIANCE to <br />Request by Ron and Susan Hornbaker, 2994 Aldine Street, for a <br />Roseville City Code,§1012 (General Requirements) <br /> to allow the installation of an <br />8-foot-tall fence extending into the front yard. <br /> <br />Acting Chair Boerigter opened the Public Hearing for Planning File 07-025. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Bryan Lloyd reviewed the request to allow construction of a fence <br />greater than 6.5 feet tall on their residential property and a fence greater than 4 feet <br />tall in the front yard. <br /> <br />Mr. Lloyd explained the purpose of the proposed fence was to deter errant balls and <br />neighborhood children playing basketball in the recently-built basketball court from the <br />neighbor’s yard directly adjacent to the south of the Hornbaker’s yard. <br /> <br />Staff recommended APPROVAL of the request for a 1.5-foot VARIANCE to Section <br />1012.02B(3) Side Yard Encroachments) and a 4-foot VARIANCE to Section <br />1012.02B(2) (Front Yard Encroachments) of the City Code for the residential property <br />at located at 2994 Aldine Street, based on the comments and findings outlined in <br />Section 5, and detailed conditions of Section 6 of the staff report dated June 6, 2007. <br /> <br />Mr. Lloyd explained that staff had fielded one (1) call from an adjoining neighbor, in <br />support of the proposed fence. <br /> <br /> <br />
