Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 9, 2010 <br />Commissioners Present: Chair David Singleton; Vice -Chair Marie Oftelie; Commissioners <br />Gary Grefenberg, Liz Jaeger, Thelma McKenzie and Barb Yates. <br />1. Call to Order: Chair David Singleton called meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. The Clerk <br />called the roll. <br />2. Approve Minutes of January 12, 2010 <br />Commissioner Barb Yates moved and Commissioner Liz Jaeger seconded approval of the <br />January 12, 2010 minutes. Motion passed unanimously. <br />3. Staff /Committee Reports <br />3a. Visions of Success Subcommittee <br />Commissioner Jaeger reviewed the highlights from the subcommittee meeting. The Committee is <br />considering several ways to divide the city into neighborhoods as a way to target outreach. They <br />are also working with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights to have a regional conference <br />to raise awareness about human rights. <br />They are pursuing public relations strategies, including having a monthly human rights column <br />in the Roseville Review. The committee asked if they need Council approval to generate revenue <br />and to hire an intern. They will follow up with a discussion with the City Manager. <br />The Committee will meet on March 23 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. They invited other <br />commissioners to attend and asked that staff post the meeting in case there was a quorum of <br />commissioners. <br />Commissioner Gary Grefenberg asked for clarification about what constituencies they were <br />looking for with the neighborhoods, but the committee was not able to answer that question yet. <br />3b. Program Planners Subcommittee <br />Commissioner Marie Oftelie reported that the subcommittee planned to meet on March 15. They <br />will work to identify the audience and define messages the commission wants to communicate. <br />Commissioner Grefenberg provided information about possible intern resources. He said they <br />would discuss getting volunteers and City staff involved in help identify neighborhoods. <br />3c. Data Geeks Subcommittee <br />
