ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL — August 8, 2011 9
7.A. Cruisin' for St. Jude Fundraising Event — Flaherty's Arden Bowl (continued)
A. Cruisin' for St. Jude Fundraising Event — Flaherty's Arden Bowl (continued)
Mr. Flaherty stated all of the outdoor activities for the event would be confined to the middle of
the parking lot leaving the two entrance /exit aisles open for emergency vehicle access. Flaherty's
will also arrange to have portable toilets brought to the site and have a police presence on site
after 5:00 p.m.
Mayor Grant clarified the police presence would be paid for by Flaherty's.
Mr. Flaherty stated this would be at their cost. He stated Flaherty's also has two security guards
on staff and they will be present for the event.
Councilmember Holden suggested they review the schedule for Pot O' Gold Bingo as well
because this may impact the outside business.
Mayor Grant clarified the majority of the bikes would be parked in the main parking lot and
overflow parking would be available in the adjacent parking lot.
Mr. Flaherty stated this was correct. He did not anticipate 250 bikes but there would be enough
parking available with the use of the overflow parking lot.
Councilmember Holden asked how the noise would be monitored to ensure it did not get too
loud.
Mr. Dehkes stated the band has already been talked to and he and Mr. Flaherty would monitor the
noise level. If it starts to get too loud then they will instruct the band to lower the volume.
Councilmember Holden asked if there would be a phone number provided of a person on site
who would be responsible that could be contacted directly if there are complaints about the noise.
Mr. Flaherty stated he would provide the cell phone numbers for those people on site that would
be responsible. He clarified what monies would be donated and what would not be donated. The
event would be $25 per bike registered and this would be donated to St. Jude. The funds from the
silent auction would also be donated to St. Jude. The money from the beer and food sales would
go to Flaherty's to cover the costs. He apologized for any misstatement earlier on the matter.
Mayor Grant stated the Council would like to have a report of how the event went.
Councilmember Holden asked who would be responsible for inspecting the stage.
Deputy Clerk Brazys stated the stage was less than 30- inches off the ground so an inspection
would not be required.
MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Holmes seconded a
motion to Approve an Outdoor Concert License and a Temporary 3.2 Beer
