ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—AUGUST 13, 2012 4 <br /> be placed at the picnic shelter, they will bring forth a recommendation at a future City Council <br /> meeting. <br /> Mayor Grant read Resolution 2012-026 in its entirety. He commended Mr. Messerly for his hard <br /> work and dedication and stated that he is happy and proud to put a plaque on the Valentine Park <br /> shelter in Mr. Messerly's name. <br /> Councilmember Tamble stated that Don Messerly is a wonderful person and this dedication is a <br /> great way to show appreciation for his hard work. <br /> Councilmember Werner affirmed that the Resolution really reflects what Mr. Messerly has done <br /> for the City parks system over the years. <br /> Rich Straumann, 4380 Arden View Court, stated that he serves with Don Messerly on the PTRC. <br /> He noted that Mr. Messerly has been a tireless worker and he is very humbled by this nomination. <br /> Jim Otto, 4352 Arden View Court, has known Mr. Messerly for many years and has also served <br /> with Mr. Messerly on the PTRC. He noted that Don Messerly is a great guy and he thinks this <br /> nomination is a good idea. <br /> Mayor Grant stated that having two people from the community stop by to talk about their <br /> experience with Don Messerly further reinforces that this dedication is deserving. He has made a <br /> positive impact while volunteering his time over the past 29 years to the parks and trails system. <br /> MOTION: Councilmember Tamble moved and Councilmember Werner seconded a <br /> motion for the adoption of Resolution 2012-026: Supporting the Dedication <br /> and Desi nation of the New Picnic Shelter to be Installed at Valentine Park as <br /> the Don Messerly Picnic Shelter. The motion carried unanimously (3-0). <br /> 9. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> None. <br /> 10. COUNCIL COMMENTS AND STAFF UPDATES <br /> Mayor Grant stated that he received a letter from the North Metro 1-35W Corridor Coalition <br /> requesting the City rejoin the coalition. He noted that it may be a work session topic for the <br /> future, but for now, he simply wanted to mention that he had received the letter as did many <br /> surrounding cities along the corridor. <br /> Mayor Grant indicated that the work being done at Valentine Park is nearly complete, but the <br /> weeds are a concern. He questioned what the plan is for weed control and what the contractor is <br /> going to do in the spring. <br /> Assistant City Engineer Anderson stated that as part of the contract at Valentine Park, the <br /> contractor will be responsible for seeding.
