<br />Section 1325.055 Tree Preservation <br /> Meets Requirements <br /> <br />A Tree Preservation Plan is required as part of an application for new building construction in <br />any zoning district. Fifteen significant trees totaling 222 caliper inches will be removed from the <br />eastern portion of the site where the development is planned. All told, there are 1,227.5 caliper <br />inches of trees on the property. Approximately 65 of these caliper inches were planted on the <br />property as part of the E Street Flats redevelopment project. <br />Ordinance allows up to 10 percent of the total caliper inches of trees on a site to be removed <br />before mitigation is required. <br /> <br />In this case, the permitted removal amount would be 123 caliper inches. Since the proposal <br />includes the removal of more trees than allowed by the Ordinance, replacement tree plantings are <br />required. The mitigation rate is calculated by subtracting the permitted removal from the <br />proposed removal and dividing by two. For the current proposal, 49.5 caliper inches of trees <br />would need to be planted and the applicant has included 53 caliper inches.
