A total of 59,924 square feet of plantings for the entire parcel is <br />required based on this provision. During Phase I of the project, 55,057 square feet of perennial <br />and shrub beds were installed. Phase II will include an additional 11,462 square feet of planting <br />beds, bringing the total area in perennials to 66,519 square feet. This equates to eleven percent of <br />the total landscaped area. <br /> <br />Planting Islands <br />At least ten percent of the parking area must be occupied by planting islands that are at least 150 <br />square feet in size and have at least one tree. The total parking lot area on the property is 89,766 <br />square feet, which equates to 8,977 square feet of parking islands required. The applicant is <br />providing 15,238 square feet of parking islands, or 17 percent of the parking area.
