Kimley>>>Horn Page 2
Kimley-Horn will compile available topographic information available from MnDOT and the
previous survey conducted by the City of Arden Hills for the construction of a trail on the south
side of Lake Valentine Road. We have assumed that some additional topographic survey will be
required to complete the base mapping for the project. A Kimley-Horn subconsultant will obtain
the necessary topographic surveying for the final design work. The following is a summary of the
information that will be gathered through the topographic survey work:
Surface Features such as Signs, Light Poles, Trees, and Mailboxes
Profile Streets and Intersections including Edge/Center of Pavement
Locate Existing Property Irons and Underground Utilities (Gopher One Call)
Survey Utilities (Storm Drain, Sanitary Sewer and Watermain Structures)
Establish Survey Control and Set Project Benchmarks
B. Geotechnical Evaluation
A Kimley-Horn sub-consultant will obtain soil borings for the purpose of providing
recommendations for the construction of the necessary retaining wall on the south side of Lake
Valentine Road. We will utilize geotechnical data available from MnDOT where possible, but
have assumed that up to three(3) borings with a total boring depth of up to forty-five (45)feet
may be necessary to develop design recommendations for the retaining wall. A report will be
prepared outlining the findings of the investigation and providing recommendations for the project
improvements.
Task 2— Project Management/Agency Coordination
A. Project Management
Kimley-Horn will provide overall project management and utilize internal project management
tools to monitor budgets, staff roles, and responsibilities of all team members throughout the
project. We will communicate directly with the City's project manager on a regular basis to
discuss design decisions and progress throughout the project. We will manage day-to-day
activities and milestones within the project. KHA will prepare monthly billing invoices and provide
a summary of the work tasks required and completed at the end of each month.
B. Agency Coordination
Kimley-Horn will coordinate the final design of the proposed improvements with the MnDOT
bridge replacement project. We have assumed this task will include up to two (2) meetings with
MnDOT and general coordination with the MnDOT County Road F bridge replacement project
team. We have assumed this will include transferring of electronic files at critical design stages to
address any discrepancies between the two projects.
Task 3 — Final Construction Plans and Specifications
A. Preparation of Final Construction Documents
We will prepare final construction plans that include plan and profile information for the roadway,
trail, retaining wall, and storm sewer improvements. We have assumed that the plans will be
included with the City of New Brighton County Road F/10th Street project for bidding purposes.
iTi ifi2550 University Avenue -
