ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL – MAY 11, 2015 4 <br /> <br />Maintenance Worker. He supported the seasonal worker, so long as Mr. Freyberger’s replacement <br />wasn’t also being hired at the same time. <br /> <br />Councilmember Woodburn asked if the City typically hired seasonal workers. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant commented that the City does hire seasonal help; however, this was to complete <br />different tasks than the work currently completed by Scott Freyberger. He supported staff hiring a <br />new Public Works employee after July 2nd. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Maurer commented that replacing Scott Freyberger would take at least <br />two months. For this reason, staff was requesting the seasonal employee to assist the City this <br />summer. He understands there would be some overlap, but this would end the first of September. <br />He discussed the unique skill set that Mr. Freyberger has noting that it will be difficult to replace <br />him. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant questioned how staff wanted to proceed with this matter. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Maurer reported that it would be his preference to hire Scott <br />Freyberger’s replacement as quickly as possible. <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilmember McClung moved and Councilmember Holmes seconded a <br />motion to deny the hiring of Daniel Crist as a Public Works Seasonal <br />Maintenance Worker. The motion carried (4-0). <br /> <br />B. Accept Public Works Maintenance Worker Resignation and Authorize <br />Advertisement for the Public Works Maintenance Worker Vacancy <br /> <br />Mayor Grant recommended that the Council accept Scott Freyberger’s resignation and authorize <br />staff to advertise for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker. <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilmember McClung moved and Councilmember Holmes seconded a <br />motion to accept Scott Freyberger’s resignation as Public Works Maintenance <br />Worker for the City of Arden Hills effective July 2, 2015, and authorization to <br />advertise for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker for the City <br />of Arden Hills. The motion carried (4-0). <br /> <br />C. Adoption of Resolution 2014-031 Recognizing National Public Works Week <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmes suggested that Resolutions or Proclamations that recognize staff, the <br />public works department, or the police department be read aloud by the Mayor for the record. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant read a Resolution aloud for the record recognizing National Public Works Week as <br />May 17-23, 2015. He thanked the department for their efforts in maintaining the City <br />infrastructure consisting of sanitary sewer, water, storm sewer, streets, trails, parks and public <br />buildings. The daily efforts by these dedicated employees enhance the health, safety and quality of <br />life for all our residents. <br />
