CITY OF ARDEN HILLS DRAFT <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: April 27,2001 <br /> TO: Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> FROM: Joe Lynch, City Administrator jbV <br /> SUBJECT: Public Works/Parks& Recreation Maintenance Employees—Trial <br /> Policy Regarding Number of Persons Off at One Time <br /> At the Labor Management Committee (LMC)meeting on April 11, 2001,the LMC brought <br /> forward a recommendation to institute a new policy regarding the number of persons permitted <br /> off at one time. The proposed recommendation was to allow each person in the union three (3) <br /> opportunities to be the third man off for the remaining portion of the year 2001,until December <br /> 1, 2001 <br /> The approval of the third man off would be given by the Interim Public Works Director, and any <br /> subsequent succeeding position. The LMC recommended that this policy be in place and tried <br /> until December 1, 2001 at which time the LMC will re-evaluate the policy, and make a <br /> recommendation for future use or discontinuation. <br /> Effective immediately,the policy for the City of Arden Hills regarding the number of persons off <br /> at one time will be modified to allow each bargaining unit employee to be the third person off for <br /> up to three (3)times per year,between April 12, 2001 and December 1, 2001. The same policies <br /> regarding the number of days notice prior to the time being taken off apply, (see March 14, 2001 <br /> memorandum regarding the policy change for the number of days notification),with the approval <br /> of time off requests given by the Public Works Foreman and approval of the request of the <br /> Public Works Foreman to be the Public Works Director or responsible position. <br /> This policy will be evaluated and brought up for discussion at LMC meetings on a monthly basis <br /> for review and examination, with a final recommendation being made after December 1, 2001. <br /> cc: Bargaining Unit Employees <br /> Tom Moore <br /> Terry Post <br /> Sandy Berres <br /> Union File <br />
