City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy Effective Februao,29,201-56 <br />DISCIPLINARY ACTION C[SI501:Pllease see LMC sample page 42-44 <br />The City of Arden Hills employees are expected to maintain a high level of performance.In <br />the event job performance or behavior causes problems that interfere with work,provision of <br />City services or the management of the City, disciplinary measures which could lead to <br />termination may be necessary. <br />Supervisors are responsible for maintaining compliance with City standards of employee <br />conduct. The objective of this policy is to establish a standard process for employees of the <br />Cite. City employees will be subject to disciplinary action for failure to fulfill their duties and <br />responsibilities at the level required, including observance of work rules and standards of <br />conduct and applicable City policies. <br />Discipline will be administered in a non-discriminatory manner. An employee who believes <br />that discipline applied was either unjust or disproportionate to the offense committed may <br />pursue a remedy through the grievance procedures established in the City's personnel <br />policies. The supervisor and/or the Director of Administrative Services will investigate any <br />allegation on which disciplinary action might be based before any disciplinary action is taken. <br />The City will administer disciplinary procedures which incorporate the principles of just <br />cause. Evidence of just cause will provide the basis for all disciplinary action. Cause for <br />discipline and discharge includes,but is not limited to: <br />1. Incompetence or inefficiency in performance of duties. <br />2. Conviction of a criminal offense. <br />3. Violation of any lawful or official work rule,regulation or City ordinance. <br />4. Reporting for work and/or working while under the influence of alcohol,drugs <br />or other controlled substances. <br />5. Offensive conduct or language toward the public, municipal officers or <br />employees. <br />6. Carelessness and/or negligence in the handling or control of municipal <br />property or property entrusted to the employee by the City. <br />7. Inducing or attempting to induce a person,officer or employee of the City to <br />commit an unlawful act or to act in violation of any lawful and reasonable <br />official regulation or order. <br />8. Dishonesty in the performance of duties. <br />82
