City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy Effective February 29,2016 <br />DEFINITIONS <br />Anniversary Date- Benefits Shall mean the month and day of initial hiring of a <br />Full-time or Temporary employee. <br />Anniversary Date — Promotions Shall mean the month and day of a promotion <br />of a Full-time or Temporary employee. <br />Benefits Benefits shall mean indirect compensation granted <br />to employees. <br />Benefit Earning Employees Employees who are eligible for at least a pro-rated <br />portion of city-provided benefits. Such employees <br />must be year-round employees who work at least <br />20 hours per week on a regular basis. Except as <br />otherwise required by law, temporary and seasonal <br />employees are not benefit earning employees. <br />Benefit Year for PTO March 1 —February 28. <br />Certified Bargaining Unit Group of employees who have been determined <br />by the State to have a common interest in the <br />collective bargaining process and whose interest <br />has been determined as appropriate by the State. <br />Class A position or group of positions similar in respect <br />to their duties and responsibilities so that the same <br />title can reasonably be used and the same salary <br />schedule may be applied to the position. <br />Compensatory Time Time off from work for employees not exempt <br />from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards <br />Act. Compensatory time shall be computed at one <br />and one-half times the number of overtime hours <br />worked. <br />Demotion The placement of an employee in a position <br />having a lower pay and/or less responsibility than <br />the position previously held. This could involve a <br />reduction in salary due to incompetency, <br />inefficiency, or misconduct. <br />Exempt Employee An employee who is exempt from the overtime <br />2
