City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy Effective February 29,2016 <br />provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. <br />Flex-Time Time off from work for exempt employees. <br />May only be used in increments of 9-hours or less, <br />no consecutive days, maximum accrual of 80 <br />hours. <br />Grievance A dispute or disagreement regarding the <br />interpretation or application of the specific terms <br />and conditions of a labor agreement or City policy. <br />Immediate Family The employee's spouse, legal guardian, as well as <br />children, siblings, parents, in-laws, grandparents, <br />aunt, uncle, niece, and nephew by blood, marriage <br />or adoption. <br />Lay-Off The temporary dismissal from employment of an <br />employee for an unspecified length of time. <br />During a period of lay-off, employees do not <br />accrue benefits and are not credited with service. <br />Municipal Service Employed by the City. <br />Non-Exempt Employee An employee who is not exempt from the <br />overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards <br />Act. <br />Overtime Duties performed at the express authorization of <br />the Employer in excess of the 40 hours per work <br />week. <br />Personal Time Off Personal Time Off (PTO) is authorized paid <br />absence from duty. <br />Position Employment calling for the performance of <br />specified tasks which constitute the total work <br />assignment of a single employee. <br />Promotion The placement of an employee in a position <br />having a higher pay range and/or more <br />responsibility than the position previously held. <br />3
