i <br /> ,-A EN HILLS <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: June 12, 2006 AGENDA ITEM: X <br /> TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> FROM: Michelle Wolfe, City Administrator <br /> SUBJECT: Motion to Approve O&M Process and Timeline <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On Monday, May 22nd the City Council approved the O&M Transition Plan. At that time I <br /> indicated I would put together a process for reviewing our current organizational structure and <br /> the recruitment of a new Director. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> I recommend that the City not proceed with the recruitment of an O&M Director at this time. <br /> Rather I would like to implement the attached process and timeline, which allows time to <br /> develop and review options for the future of the O&M Department. I reviewed many historical <br /> minutes and reports regarding previous reorganizations and now have some background on how <br /> the City arrived at the existing structure for the department. However, I am not sure the existing <br /> structure is the best alternative as we move forward in the future. Therefore I would like to take <br /> approximately two months to study the issue before commencing with recruitment. With <br /> Council approval I will proceed with the information gathering stage of the proposed process. <br /> (Some preliminary work has been done.
