ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—AUGUST 27, 2018 4 <br /> • Subd. 6. All noxious weeds and other growths of vegetation upon public or private <br /> property in excess of eight (8) inches. <br /> • Subd. 9. Accumulation of manure, tree branches, cut trees, grass clippings, bottles, <br /> rubbish, trash, refuse, junk and other abandoned materials, metals including aluminum or <br /> tin cans, or lumber <br /> Ms. Kansier explained following the initial inspection, staff sent a letter to the property owner <br /> requesting they correct the issues by August 17, 2018. A follow-up inspection on August 20, <br /> 2018, revealed the violations had not been corrected. Code enforcement files indicate this is the <br /> second complaint received in 2018 for the same issues. <br /> Ms. Kansier reported in accordance with the City's accelerated abatement procedures in Section <br /> 602.07 of the City Code, a letter was mailed to the property owner on August 8, 2018. Based on <br /> the accelerated abatement procedures, the property owner was given seven working days, or until <br /> August 17, 2018, to abate the nuisance. A follow-up inspection showed that no action has been <br /> taken. <br /> Ms. Kansier stated due to the reoccurring nature of these types of violations, staff is requesting <br /> the City Council issue an order for abatement of the property and to continue the abatement order <br /> for a two-year period. The two-year period would expire on August 27, 2020. The property owner <br /> has seven days from the Council's order to complete the work before the City can have the work <br /> completed. <br /> Mayor Grant opened the public hearing at 7:29 p.m. <br /> With no one coming forward to speak, Mayor Grant closed the public hearing at 7:30 p.m. <br /> 10. NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. Resolution 2018-051 —Abatement of Nuisance at 3246 New Brighton Road <br /> Jane Kansier, Bolton & Menk Planning Consultant, requested the City Council adopt a <br /> resolution ordering the accelerated nuisance abatement for the property at 3246 New Brighton <br /> Road for excessive vegetation growth and the accumulation of debris. <br /> MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Holmes seconded a <br /> motion to adopt Resolution 2018-051, ordering accelerated nuisance <br /> abatement at 3246 New Brighton Road for excessive vegetation growth and <br /> the accumulation of debris not in compliance with City regulations. <br /> Councilmember Scott noted a typo within the attached letter noting the date should be changed <br /> from 2017 to 2018. <br /> The motion carried (5-0). <br />
