City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy'_` Effective February 29, 2016 <br />ri` 1 ILN HILLS Amended December- ' n October 28 2019 <br />GIVE ADVANCE NOTICE WHEN USING UNSCHEDULED PERSONAL <br />TIME OFF An employee must notify their supervisor as early as possible if using <br />unscheduled Personal Time Off. Except in unusual cases, he/she should talk directly with <br />their supervisor to be sure that their supervisor receives the message. <br />HELP KEEP THE WORK AREA AND EQUIPMENT IN GOOD ORDER It is <br />necessary to maintain sanitary and healthful conditions throughout the buildings and <br />offices. Good housekeeping promotes good workmanship and safety. Equipment must be <br />kept in order, the floor free of litter and the general rules of housekeeping observed. Be <br />neat in your personal appearance. <br />PERFORM THE JOB PROPERLY Supervisors are responsible for directing the work. <br />They will answer any questions or clarify any assigned duties, which an employee does not <br />understand. Every employee should take pride in their work and perform their job carefully <br />and according to instructions. All necessary information should be passed on to relief <br />operators in order that they may continue the operation without interruption or confusion. <br />BE AN EXAMPLE The conduct of each individual shall be beyond criticism as a public <br />employee. Good conduct not only allows the employee to protect himself/herself from <br />censure, but also helps to make the whole organization to be one of pride to the <br />community. <br />BE POLITE No employee should let the weight of their job affect their personality. A <br />cheerful, polite attitude not only makes work easier, but also makes it easier for fellow <br />workers to work with the employee. <br />DRESS CODE Because all City staff interact with the public on a regular basis, it is <br />important for all employees to represent the City by dressing in a professional manner. <br />Each City employee should dress in a department issued uniform or in a "Business Casual" <br />fashion. Personal appearance should be appropriate to the nature of the work and contacts <br />with other people and should present a positive image to the public. Clothing, jewelry or <br />other items that could present a safety hazard are not acceptable in the workplace. <br />The City recognizes special job assignments or special duties of a particular job may require <br />an employee to wear non -business casual clothing. Approval must be received from your <br />supervisor for non -business casual clothing. <br />The City has adopted a casual Friday policy which allows an employee to wear jeans. <br />In the event an employee arrives at work inappropriately dressed or groomed, the <br />employee will be sent home to change into appropriate clothing, and will be expected to <br />use PTO for the lost time during the work day. <br />13 <br />
