The proposal from Bolton & Menk includes an alternatives analysis to evaluate three options for
improvements to Lift Station No. 10.
1. Rehabilitation of the existing lift station
2. Full replacement of the lift station
3. Installation of a grinder type station and force main
Alternatives 2 and 3 would be considered during the planning process to evaluate the need to
address the upstream flow issue described above.
The proposed fee for rehabilitation of the existing lift station is $44,500, including planning,
design, bidding support and construction administration. If the City decides to proceed with the
full replacement of the station, the fee would be $49,400.
Staff recommends that the City award a professional services agreement to Bolton & Menk in
the amount of $49,400. The fee would be reduced by $4,900 if the alternatives analysis
determines that full replacement of the lift station is not necessary. Staff does not recommend
awarding the additional survey work outlined in Task 5 of the proposal.
Budtet Impact
The currently adopted Capital Improvement Program includes a budget of $100,000 for
improvements to Lift Station No. 10. The draft 2021 to 2025 Capital Improvement Program
reviewed by the City Council on June 15, 2020, proposes to increase the total estimated cost for
the project to $180,000.
Attachments
Attachment A: Professional Services Proposal
Page 2 of 2
