Blomstrom, P.E. <br /> Public Works Director/City Engineer <br /> City of Arden Hills <br /> 1245 West Highway 96 <br /> Arden Hills, MN 55112-5743 <br /> Re: Lift Station 10 <br /> Arden Hills, Minnesota <br /> Dear Mr. Blomstrom: <br /> Thank you for providing us this opportunity to assist you with the rehabilitation plans for Lift Station 10. <br /> Bolton&Menk,Inc., has the technical expertise, experience and resources to complete this project for the <br /> City and we appreciate your consideration. <br /> Based on our understanding,the project may include the following major components: <br /> • Replacement of the existing submersible lift station <br /> • Installation of a new precast lift station and possibly new valve vault <br /> o Goal is to eliminate flooding of upstream manhole <br /> • Installation of two,new submersible pumps <br /> • Replacement of piping and valves (check valves, gate valves, air release valves) <br /> • New control panel and SCADA equipment <br /> • Miscellaneous piping and site work <br /> • City would procure pumps and controls similar to past projects <br /> Through the preliminary design phase we will conduct an alternatives analysis to determine the <br /> recommended improvements for lift station 10,which may include: 1)rehabilitation of the existing lift <br /> station; 2)replacement of the existing submersible station with a similar type of station; or 3) installation <br /> of a grinder type station and new small diameter forcemain since flows are relatively low. <br /> We have identified the below tasks in order to complete the work as described above. A summary of each <br /> task is described below: <br /> Task 1—Preliminary Design Phase <br /> • Kickoff meeting <br /> • Assemble and review existing site data(surveys,preliminary plans, as-built information, etc.) <br /> • Topographic survey—capture upstream manholes as part of survey <br /> • Geotechnical evaluation (Bolton & Menk to coordinate and the geotechnical work billed to City <br /> directly from selected geotechnical engineer) <br /> N:\Proposals\Arden Hills\Lift Station 10\LS 10 Scope and Fee letter revised.docx <br /> Bolton&Menk is an equal opportunity employer. <br />
