AGENDA ITEM – 1G

MEMORANDUM

DATE: September 21, 2020

TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers

FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator

SUBJECT: COVID-19 Update

Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source:
N/A N/A N/A

For Council Consideration

Council may consider providing staff further direction on City operations during COVID-19.

Background

Staff will provide a verbal update for any applicable changes regarding COVID-19. As of
September 16, 2020, the Governor has not issued any new guidance regarding his Stay Safe
Orders. The City Council may want to weigh in on any of the below, or provide guidance on
items not listed:

-City Hall remains closed to the public, and staff is circulating into the office as needed;
however, most staff continues to work remotely if able. There is not a right answer for cities on
whether or not they are opening to the public, some cities are completely open while others
remain completely closed. For our surrounding cities, New Brighton and Mounds View are
closed, but both are planning on opening their doors in the near future.

-City Council meetings are still being held remotely and closed to the public.

-The Public Works Crew is still split into two shifts.

-The Recreation Coordinator is still on a temporary layoff.

Other items:

-Staff received a quote to have an air purifier installed in our air handling units totaling $4,117,
which would be eligible for CARES funding. This is not related to our current HVAC project;
this is the same equipment that LJFD installed in their buildings.
