CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING <br /> • Call to Order MINUTES, JANUARY 22 , 1991 <br /> The regular meeting of the Arden Hills Park and Recreation <br /> Commission was called to order at 7: 35 P.M. by Chairman David <br /> Sand. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Present: Chairman David Sand, Mary Gillies, Pattie Green, Mark <br /> Magers, Alan Montgomery, Megan Ricke. <br /> Absent <br /> Keith Enrooth, Don Messerly, Carol Johnson and David Moberg. <br /> Also Present <br /> Mayor Tom Sather, Program Supervisor Cindy Severtson, Parks <br /> Director John Buckley, and guest Mark Labine. <br /> MINUTE APPROVAL Minutes of the November 27 meeting were <br /> approved as mailed. <br /> David Sand stated that he has served as committee chairman for <br /> the past four years and would be willing to step down if other <br /> members were interested in the Chair. There was no expression of <br /> interest in the Chair. <br /> COMMITTEE GOALS: Committee members were asked to introduce <br /> • themselves, tell where they live and work. <br /> They were also asked to tell their motivation for serving on the <br /> committee and share any short term or long term goals they would <br /> like the Parks Dept. to accomplish. <br /> OATH OF OFFICE: Mayor Sather gave the oaths of office to the <br /> members. <br /> COUNCIL REPORT: Mayor Sather expressed some goals and <br /> consider in 1991. direction he would like the committee to <br /> Committee structure (Parks & Rec. , Finance, Public Works, <br /> Human Rights, Planning; have traditionally been an avenue for <br /> citizen participation in local government by providing <br /> recommendations to the Council. Creative ways of keeping the <br /> committees focused and productive should be explored. <br /> Community survey should be reviewed to identify citizen <br /> interest, recommendations, concerns, changes, etc. <br /> - Research and recommend a five year capital expenditure <br /> program for the Parks Dept. <br /> - Program services and recreational needs for all people. <br /> • - Create mass participation activities for City. <br /> Think big - don't hesitate to ask for anything. <br />
