• TASK STATEMENT <br /> Major Responsibility Areas: <br /> 1. Planning, implementing, supervision, and evaluation of City-wide <br /> recreation programs. <br /> a. Assess community recreation needs. <br /> b. Propose activities and programs to meet community needs. <br /> C. Arrange for faci-lities for programs. <br /> d. Recruit instructors. <br /> e. Interview, select, and train part-time staff. <br /> f. Prepare brochures, program information, registration information, <br /> general department information. <br /> g. Establish fee structure based on instructor costs, material cost, <br /> facility fees. <br /> h. Advertise and distribute brochures. <br /> i. Register participants and notify registrants of program changes <br /> or cancellations. <br /> j . Prepare information for instructors, class lists, emergency <br /> procedures, building use policies, etc. <br /> k. Recommend items to be purchased, after obtaining necessary price <br /> information. <br /> 1. Spot check each activity periodically to ensure program quality. <br /> M. Prepare payroll requests for staff. <br /> • n. Evaluate each staff person hired for programs on ability and <br /> compliance with contract. <br /> o. Evaluate activity for content and success. <br /> 2. Provision of assistance in the preparation of budget requests for the <br /> department. <br /> a. Prepare budget memo on recreation needs for the coming year. <br /> b. Recommend improvements on recreation facilities. <br /> C. Provide justification for budget requests. <br /> d. Present request and appropriate information to director. <br /> 3. Provision of information on department activities, policies, and pro- <br /> cedures to the general public. <br /> a. Provide miscellaneous information on specific program activities. <br /> b. Provide explanation of miscellaneous departmental policies and <br /> background information when required. <br /> C. Prepare newspaper articles, take photos, and perform related <br /> public relations work. <br /> 4. Performance of any other duties as directed or apparent. <br /> a. Recommend the purchase of various items used in the department. <br /> b. Attend Park Board and City Council meetings when required. <br /> C. Speak to community leaders and groups regarding various <br /> recreation programs. <br /> d. Assist other staff in the department with various duties. <br />
