Arden Hills Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes 8 <br /> June 11, 2002 <br /> are differences between official and unofficial trails and what they would be able to do. <br /> Committee Member Crassweller clarified the access issues noting that it would be a great <br /> connection. Mr. Moore clarified that once again they are dealing with a force they cannot control. <br /> He stated that what he is trying to do from Lindey's to 51 is to get this stretch of road <br /> reconstructed and add a trail/sidewalk. He stated that it would be much easier to get by tying the <br /> project in. <br /> Committee Member Crassweller asked how much it costs to install an individual park bench. Mr. <br /> Moore stated that it ranges from $600-$900.00 for the bench and installation. <br /> Committee Member Crassweller suggested including an item that would include installation of <br /> twenty park benches to be placed along various trails, to be decided by the Committee. Mr. <br /> Moore stated that if they were to include this item that the costs would decrease. <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Crassweller moved and Committee Member Henry seconded <br /> to approve the allocation of funds in the amount of$20,000.00 for the placement <br /> of 20 park benches and related accessories in parks to be identified by the <br /> Committee. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. Moore stated that he in the process of doing this with the Boy Scouts. He stated that <br /> • presently he is at twelve benches. He reviewed the project with the Committee. He noted Floral <br /> Park and the installation of new park equipment and perennial/berm placements stating that the <br /> park is beautiful. <br /> Committee Member Henry suggested including a contact number for feedback and questions on <br /> the back of the benches in addition to the back of the signage. <br /> E. $750,000—Round Lake Trail <br /> Chair Straumann asked for an update on the Round Lake Trail area. <br /> Mr. Moore stated that this involves some property acquisition and reviewed the area with the <br /> Committee. <br /> Committee Member Messerly stated that the City owns land in this area already and clarified <br /> further with the Committee. <br /> Committee Member Crassweller stated they should allocate dollars to the Buckthorn removal. He <br /> clarified that the plan is to use the Boy Scouts and the wood chips noting that in order to send a <br /> serious message they should allocate at least $20,000.00 in the next fiscal year to the Buckthorn <br /> Removal program. Mr. Moore clarified that the labor cost would be for Arden Hills staff time to <br /> [1p run the equipment. He explained that based on union contract they would have to pay for their <br /> time on a Saturday. He explained that the additional costs would be for tools and publications <br /> costs for distribution of notification for the affected areas. <br />
