Arden Hills Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes 4
June 11, 2002
MOTION: Committee Member Crassweller moved and Committee Member Thompson
seconded the motion to approve the funding of signage for fiscal year 2002. The
motion carried unanimously.
Committee Member Crassweller suggested, in addition to signage, that they should recommend
something substantial, something that is part of the plan whether it is Frisbee Golf for Ingerson or
a bridge connection from Chatham to Perry Island. He stated that they should have at least one
item that is a substantial improvement to the entire park or trail system.
Committee Member Henry asked if they knew whether Frisbee Golf could be done for $7500.00
and if the residents are ok with it. Mr. Moore stated that they are not clear on how the residents
feel. Committee Member Thompson expressed concerns stating that they may not have time to
complete it this year.
Committee Member Henry clarified his understanding and asked if Committee Member
Crassweller's request would be more visionary or substantial and that Frisbee would not fit.
Committee Member Crassweller clarified and agreed. He further clarified stating that he believes
there are several pieces to this process. He stated that they should choose something that is
relatively low cost to work on in addition to a three-year projection.
Chair Straumann stated that he, Committee Member Thompson and Mr. Moore met with
• designers for an informational meeting. He stated that the architects they met with had developed
the park area shelter located at Tony Schmidt Park. He stated that this is the type of structure they
would like to see if they develop the athletic complex. He reviewed the structural design with the
Committee and suggested that they consider modules for areas such as bath or picnic and shape
that area of the park based on the need. He suggested Perry Park or possibly a smaller scale
version at Valentine Park. He stated that there are a couple ideas in process where they could ask
Council to consider the designs.
MOTION: Committee Member Crassweller moved and Committee Member Henry seconded
to approve the funding for Frisbee Golf at Ingerson Park in the amount of
$7500.00 for fiscal year 2002. The motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Moore suggested that the next step would be to identify a timeline that would include a
neighborhood meeting.
MOTION: Committee Member Henry moved and Committee Member Crassweller seconded
to approve the request for funding to develop a master plan for park buildings.
The motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Moore stated it would cost approximately$30-60,000.00 for design costs.
