Arden Hills Parks,Trails and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes 3 <br /> October 22,2002 <br /> MSI has started their removal; Perry Park Neighborhood; and Bussard Court. He stated <br /> that the rule is if they cut the City would pick it up, chip it and put back into the area. <br /> ❖ Park signage will be completed in the next two weeks. He stated that Vacker, Inc. is the <br /> vendor and that they would be installing 20 signs. <br /> ❖ Placed handrails along the hill areas for the Arden Hills Trails. He explained that making <br /> the trails accessible year round is an ADA requirement and an action item in the Park <br /> Comprehensive Plan. <br /> ❖ All flower gardens have been converted and the last fertilization has been completed. <br /> ❖ Installed three park benches at Floral Park. <br /> ❖ All crosswalks in the City are officially done and include signage. He stated that every <br /> trail segment and handicapped accessible sidewalk should have MnDOT regulated <br /> signage. He reviewed the County owned streets noting that the City cannot touch or <br /> make changes to County roads. Vince Schwartz completed the stripping. <br /> Chair Straumann suggested inviting Mr. Schwartz to a meeting to discuss other issues. Mr. <br /> Moore agreed. Chair Straumann asked what other improvements are planned. Council Liaison <br /> Larson asked if the underpass is in the County CIP. Mr. Moore confirmed stating that it would <br /> be done next year. <br /> B. Recreation Updates - Michelle Olson <br /> Ms. Olson discussed the following items with the Committee: <br /> ❖ She stated that due to turnover in Staff the Winter Recreation Guide would not be issued. <br /> She explained that they have temporary help but that they do not have the experience to <br /> create the guide. She explained that the Winter Recreation Guide is generally the least <br /> impacted as there are less classes. She stated that they are trying to send out flyers that <br /> would normally be included in the guide and that they would monitor the response. She <br /> stated that they would also put a version of the guide on the City website. She stated that <br /> the Spring/Summer Guide would be back to normal. <br /> ❖ She stated that they would begin hiring for Ice Rink Attendants. <br /> ❖ Pumpkin Hunt is Friday, October 25, 2002 and the 4H Club is assisting. <br /> ❖ She stated that they have storage room issues and continue to have drainage issues in <br /> lower level of City Hall. <br /> ❖ She reviewed the park activities with the Committee stating that they are finishing soccer. <br /> 1 ❖ Outdoor bathrooms would be removed until ice rink season. <br />
