<br /> Motion was made by Otto, seconded by Anderson, that a plan be developed by
<br /> Miller which would create a multi-use flat area at the north part of the site,
<br /> preserving the high point at the south tip of the site in its current state,
<br /> and grading within the center portion of the site to allow for future
<br /> functional development (possibly tennis court or hard court area), pond to
<br /> remain as marsh type area, and that possibility of a culvert in the north tip
<br /> be explored. Motion carried unanimously.
<br /> Miller will attend next Park's Committee meeting , May 20, to present this
<br /> plan. He will meet with RCWD to discuss requirements for ponding, and Church
<br /> officials regarding grading and filling.
<br /> Cummings Park Hockey Rink, Warming House and Lights
<br /> Nswq Committee reviewed various types of prefabricated warming houses available. It
<br /> was suggested that the type c osen s ou coordina a wii e s e er a ready
<br /> ordered for Cummings Park.
<br /> Motion was made by Sand, seconded by Messerly, that Miller and Buckley bring a
<br /> specific recommendation to the May meeting of this committee for the warming
<br /> house. Motion carried unanimously.
<br /> L7 /tY4''-"Craig__Gallop, Musca Lighting, presented a lighting plan for the proposed hockey
<br /> (/ rink. The plan utilizes a two pole system, with one group of lights in the
<br /> southeast corner, one group in the northwest corner, (and one light shining on
<br /> the general skating area). 15 foot candles of light would be provided. Cost
<br /> would be between $8,000 and $8,500 for everything - poles, lights, wiring, etc.
<br /> ' Poles would be treated Douglas fir, lights mounted at 52' , estimated life span
<br /> is 30 to 35 years. Lights would aim downward rather than outward, reducing
<br /> �u «dJ glare to neighborhood. There is a five year warranty on parts and labor, five
<br /> year guarantee on aiming accuracy. Lights are metal halite. Life span of
<br /> lights is 3,000 hours (about 10+ years).
<br /> S-A,, Buckley estimates cost of installing rink itself at $10,000 to $12,000. He
<br /> ,;,,,_plans removable boards. Lighting will be controlled solely by Parks personnel.
<br /> In answer to query, Mr. Gallop stated that the light on the general skating
<br /> area will shine in an easterly direction; should not bother any homeowners.
<br /> Mr. Gallop was asked to submit a written proposal for Buckley to present at May
<br /> meeting of this group.
<br /> Concession Stand, Perry Park
<br /> Mr. Grant, Arden Hills Sportsmens Club, stated that his group has operated a
<br /> concession stand at Lake Johanna for many years, and would now like to also
<br /> operate a concession stand at Perry Park during the softball season. They
<br /> would sell pop, hot dogs, and various packaged items (popcorn, candy, etc. ).
<br /> They would plan to open at about 5:00 p.m. and close after the last evening
<br /> game.
<br /> Committee expressed some concern about the stand creating littering problems,
<br /> • felt concessionaire should be responsible for any litter created by the stand.
<br /> It was moved by Mulcahy, seconded by Peterson, that Committee recommend to
<br /> Council granting of a license to operate a concession stand at Perry Park to
<br /> the Arden Hills Sportsmens Club. Motion carried unanimously.

<br /> • Summer Program Proposal
<br /> Committee reviewed proposed summer program. "Northern Shore Masters" is an
<br /> adult swimming program. A program for junior high youth, "Court Sports",
<br /> should be added to the list. This program will be held at King's Court.
<br /> Youngsters who enroll can choose to play racquetball or wally ball, and use
<br /> other facilities at King's Court. A similar program offered during winter
<br /> break was well-attended. In answer to question, Buckley stated that the Arden
<br /> Hills Club was not interested in providing a program such as this.
<br /> It was moved by Otto, seconded by Montgomery, that the summer program, as
<br /> amended, be recommended to Council for approval. Motion carried unanimously.
