Buckley, Parks Director <br /> Subject: Available Recreational Facilities <br /> ----------------------------------------------- <br /> The closing of School District 621 schools has greatly reduced the active <br /> recreational facilities available for Arden Hills residents. <br /> Active recreational facilities lost to the community include: <br /> Indoor Outdoor <br /> Johanna Elementary 1 gym floor 2 softball fields <br /> 1 football/soccer <br /> field <br /> Johanna Junior High 2 gym floors 1 baseball field <br /> 1 swimming pool 2 softball fields <br /> 3 football/soccer <br /> • fields <br /> 1 track <br /> 4 tennis courts <br /> 1 hockey rinks <br /> Ralph Reeder School 1 gym floor 2 softball fields <br /> 1 football/soccer <br /> field <br /> New Brighton Elementary 1 gym floor 2 softball fields <br /> or <br /> 1 football/soccer <br /> field <br /> Program Cuts <br /> District 621 cut back the following programs: <br /> Elementary Athletics <br /> - Basketball, Track, Volleyball programs. <br /> Junior High Athletics <br /> - Boys' basketball, baseball, football, swimming, track, wrestling; <br /> - Girls' basketball, gymnastics, track, swimming, volleyball. <br /> Parent-sponsored youth athletic associations have been organized to provide <br /> athletic outlets for the youth in the School District. <br /> • <br />
