Indoor school facilities are currently available for non-school (public) use <br /> during the hours when the schools are not in session: <br /> Elementary Schools (Island Lake, Valentine Hills) <br /> Hours 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily September to June. <br /> Saturday if willing to pay overtime. <br /> Secondary Schools <br /> Mounds View - Wednesday only, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. <br /> Chippewa - one court only, Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 <br /> p.m. <br /> There is a real shortage of secondary school gym space and time availability <br /> for public use for Arden Hills' residents. At the same time, there is an <br /> increasing demand for indoor facilities by a public interested in health and <br /> wellness programs. <br /> Proposed Indoor Facilities <br /> Additional indoor facilities would greatly help meet the public demands for <br /> active recreational space. <br /> Minimum Desired Indoor Facilities <br /> Assembly/Gym room (space 100' x 100' a 20') area would provide: <br /> 1 regulation size basketball court, which could be divided into two <br /> cross court basketball courts or two regulation-size volleyball <br /> • courts. <br /> Locker room facilities <br /> Kitchen facilities (adjacent to assembly room). <br /> Multi-purpose activity room (1,200 to 1,600 square feet). <br /> Classrooms. <br /> Office/storage area. <br /> Proposed Facility Usage <br /> Youth <br /> Basketball <br /> Floor hockey <br /> Indoor soccer <br /> Jazzercise <br /> Dance <br /> Tumbling/Gymnastics <br /> Indoor golf/tennis lessons. <br /> Club meetings (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. ) <br /> Adults <br /> Men/Women Basketball <br /> Men/Women/Co Rec Volleyball <br /> Adult exercise classes <br /> Indoor golf/tennis lessons <br /> Square dancing/ballroom dancing <br /> Seniors' wellness classes <br /> Open gym time <br /> • Large meetings and dinner/receptions <br />
