3.1.2 Probationary Member. Those members that are placed on probation for acceptance as <br />new recruits or for re -acceptance after completion of disciplinary action are considered <br />probationary. All probationary members must comply with the Rules and Regulations <br />of the Fire Department as adopted and amended by the Board from time to time. The <br />definition of a probationary firefighter does not include probation for promotional <br />purposes (e.g., Lieutenant to Captain). Probationary members shall not have voting <br />rights. <br />ARTICLE IV. SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS <br />Section 4.1 By Directors. Special meetings of the membership may be called by a majority of the <br />Board of Directors at any regular or special meeting thereof or by written notice signed <br />by a majority of the Board of Directors. Notice of a special meeting shall state the <br />subject matter to be taken up at the special meeting. <br />Section 4.2 By Members. Special Meetings may also be called by at least ten (10) percent of active <br />members with voting rights. If the request for a special meeting is from the members, <br />the request for the special meeting shall be signed and dated by the members requesting <br />the meeting setting forth the subject matter to be taken up at the special meeting The <br />signed and dated request shall be delivered to the President or Recording Secretary. <br />Within 30 days after receipt of a request for a special meeting from voting members, <br />the Board of Directors shall cause a special meeting to be called, to be held no later <br />than 90 days after receipt of the request at the expense of the Corporation. <br />ARTICLE V. NOTICE OF MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS <br />Section 5.1 Notice. At least 10 days but no more than 20 days prior to the meeting, written notice <br />of the annual or special meetings of the membership shall be mailed to each member <br />at their last known address. Notice of special meetings shall contain a statement of the <br />subject matter to be taken up at such meeting. The notice may contain other <br />information considered necessary or desirable by the Board of Directors. The business <br />transacted at a special meeting shall be limited to the subjects stated in the notice. <br />ARTICLE VI. QUORUM <br />Section 6.1 Number. One third of the active members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction <br />of business at any membership meeting. <br />ARTICLE VII. VOTING <br />Section 7.1 Eligibility. Active Members shall be entitled to one vote on any matter that properly <br />comes before the membership. <br />Section 7.2 Absentee Ballots. Voting by Absentee ballot shall be allowed for voting. If a member <br />is unable to attend the meeting, the member may vote by Absentee ballot. If a member <br />has voted by Absentee ballot and is in attendance at the meeting, the Absentee ballot <br />shall be destroyed without opening. <br />3 <br />
