Funding for this would be <br />generated by the Park Fund. A total of 20 signs werc needed for the parks at a total <br />cost of S42,500. <br /> <br />Council Member Aplikowski asked iflandscaping around the signs was part of the <br />cost. Rich Straumann, Chaim1an of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee, <br />replied landscaping was not a part of the proposal. <br /> <br />Council Mcmber Grant requested they find out from Vacker Inc. what the cost <br />would be to have the sign panels made of 2 inches of cedar instead of 1-5/8 inches. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council Member Larson moved and Council Member Aplikowski <br />seconded a motion to authorize the purchase and installation of 20 <br />Park signs in 2002 from Vacker Inc., at a cost not to exceed $42,500 <br />with the funding to be taken out of the Park Fund. The motion carried <br />unanimously (4-0). <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Approval to Hire Park Building Architect <br /> <br />Mr. Perron indicated the Parks, Trails and Open Space Plan recommended a series <br />of improvements to be implemented. One of the improvements was for the design <br />and construction of park faeilitics. Funding for this project would be generated by <br />thc Park Fund. At the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee meeting they <br />reviewed bids and selected Hagen, Christensen and McIllwain (HCM) Architects <br />at a fee of $30,000.00. <br /> <br />Rich Straumann, Chairman of the Parks, Trails, Recreation Committee (PTRC), <br />stated the bLLildings would be prairie style architecture, similar to the structures in <br />Tony Schmidt Park. Hc indicated they did not know how many parks would bc in <br />the TCAAP area, but this would be discussed at futurc meetings. <br /> <br />Roberta Thompson, PTRC, statcd it was critical to have one architectural plan that <br />was consistent throughout the park system. <br /> <br />Council Membcr Larson expresscd his eoncems regarding the condition of the <br />warming house at Hazclnut Park, and if that park were in need of improvements. <br />
