<br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION - JANUARY 16, 2001 2 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />STAFF COMMENTS <br />Public Works Director Stafford advised that he and his maintenance staff would be <br />attending various courses for continuing education requirements as needed. <br /> <br />Planner Chaput reviewed various upcoming planning cases (i.e., Walgreens; Corporate <br />Express; and CPI Guidant). Ms. Chaput also advised that a Concept Planned Unit <br />Development (PUD) would be coming before the Council at the end of January for <br />comment for Chesapeake for a potential development in the Gateway Business District. <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation Director Moore provided an overview of the recreation programs; <br />upcoming training and continuing education; and other activities of his department. <br /> <br />City Administrator Lynch referred to the speed zone study on Old Snelling. Mr. Stafford <br />provided input from his conversations with City Attorney Filla. <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch also advised that the City Hall contractor had assured him that the City could <br />be in their new facility by June 23, 2001. <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch briefly reviewed a meeting held earlier today with MnDOT consultants and <br />planners regarding future cooperative maintenance facility ventures; and next week's <br />meeting with Ramsey County Commissioners along the same subject. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem reported that she would be taking Councilmember Grant's place as <br />Council Liaison at the Operations and Finance Committee meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson advised that he had recently attended the annual Fire Relief <br />Association meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski reported on an interview held earlier today regarding the <br />City Events Task Force plans for the Fiftieth Anniversary events, beginning with the <br />February lih kick-off meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst discussed potential dates for the Council/Department Head Retreat, stating <br />that he preferred not to use the weekend ofthe President's day holiday. <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch sought further Council direction regarding a facilitator for the Retreat. <br />Councilmember Aplikowski expressed concerns regarding Salverda and Brimeyer, and <br />the advantages of using a past facilitator (i.e., Benke) for continuity. Councilmembers <br />Larson and Rem had no preference, other than that Councilmember Larson was glad we <br />were pursuing other options for a facilitator to allow for change. It was the consensus of <br />the City Councilmembers that the Retreat be held as soon as possible. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst advised Councilmembers that Mr. Lynch's review needed to be completed <br />in the near future. Councilmember Larson commented on the review format, and stated <br /> <br />
