<br />I <br />I. <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I- <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I- <br />I <br /> <br />,ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - MAY 30, 1995 <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />Ms. Ricke indicated some of the contributors sought have not yet responded to grant applications <br />and she felt confident there would be additional contributions. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on various costs and funding measures. <br /> <br />Ms. Ricke indicated $72,000 has been raised just since the beginning of the year and fund raising <br />continues. <br /> <br />Ms. Ricke indicated the City actua1ly makes a sizable revenue from the ball fields. She indicated <br />waiting to proceed with the improvements would result in the loss of another season and its <br />revenues. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst supported moving forward. He did not feel it was inappropriate to use storm water <br />management funds, and felt it was an appropriate investment. <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski expressed concern with advertising for bids although she supported the <br />project. She felt more information regarding costs could be gathered. <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone questioned if the funds available could be invested in a more appropriate <br />manner. <br /> <br />Further discussion was held regarding cutting expenses. <br /> <br />Mr. Stonehouse indicated alternate bids could be made available. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst also suggested a revision to the third Whereas in the Resolution to state "Whereas, the <br />project is contingent upon receiving favorable bids to match funding available for this project and <br />approval of the City Council of Arden Hills to proceed." <br /> <br />MOTION: Aplikowski moved and Keim seconded a motion to adopt Resolution 95-38, <br />Approving the Plans and Specifications and Ordering the Advertisements for Bids <br />for the Redevelopment of Charles Perry Park as revised. <br /> <br />Councilmernber Hicks inquired if there could be options available, regarding lighting or irrigation, <br />noted in the bids. Mr. Stonehouse indicated the best way to do that is with a base bid for the total <br />project with alternates, noting without lighting, and without irrigation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hicks requested information regarding the mechanics of ballfield cosmetics, <br />including irrigation systems, seeding vs. sodding, etc., from other communities in the surrounding <br />area. <br />
