I
I
~ .ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - DECEMBER 28, 1994 4;
Councilmember Malone indicated perhaps a review of the home plans by the Fire Marshal before
I a building permit was granted would be to the benefit of all.
I PLANNING CASE NO. 94-27 RAMADA HOTEL
Mr. Fritsinger reviewed briefly the request for an amendment to the existing Special Use Permit
I to allow for the placement of a second satellite dish on the roof of McGuires Restaurant.
Mr. Fritsinger indicated the Planning Commission approved this request with the conditions
I outlined in the staff report. Mr. Fritsinger added the Commission did amend condition A and
requested the dish be placed near the north side of the building rather than the center.
I Councilmember Aplikowski indicated concern that the location of the satellite dish was not the
best choice, but the center of the roof would be more appropriate. Mr. Fritsinger indicated the
rationale for choosing the rear of the building was the fact that this site is the least visible to
I traffic.
Councilmember Hicks inquired as to the height of the screening fence. Mr. Fritsinger was not
Ie positive of the height, but believed it would be approximately 10 or 11 feet in height.
MOTION: Malone moved and Aplikowski seconded a motion to approve the amendment to
I the existing Special Use Permit to allow for the placement of a second satellite dish
on the roof of McGuires Restaurant with noted conditions, with the removal of
I the specific location of the satellite on the roof and noting wherever the satellite
is located it will be screened. The motion carried unanimously (4-0).
I PLANNING CASE NO. 94-28. LUNDGREN VARIANCE
Mr. Fritsinger reviewed briefly the case requesting a 20 foot Side Yard Variance to allow for the
I expansion of the home at 3487 Ridgewood Road.
Mr. Fritsinger indicated the home was built in 1951 with an addition in 1967. Mr. Fritsinger
I indicated this lot was originally plated as part of the Arden Hills #1 subdivision.
I Mr. Fritsinger pointed out that this is a comer lot which has similar dimension to other lots in
the area, however, as a corner lot the ordinance requires a 40 foot setback on both Ridgewood
Court and Arden Place.
I Mayor Probst indicated the fundamental issue is the fact that this is a corner lot and the addition
f' would not create any additional encroachments. Mr. Fritsinger indicated this is correct.
Councilmember Malone indicated this addition does not make this site any more nonconforming.
I
