-
.
Minutes of Regular Public Safety/Works Committee Meeting
. Page 4
Sewer Line on North Hamline
Last month the Committee discussed the sewer smell emanating in this area.
Raddatz reported the smell seems to have disappeared, but he still intends to
televise the line to see if there are dips that caused the original problem.
Tractor Replacement
1987 budget calls for replacement of the Case tractor; Raddatz is gathering
information and specifications; will bring cost and specifications to the March
meeting of this committee.
Replacement of Parks One Ton Truck
1987 budget also calls for replacement of Parks one ton truck. Raddatz
proposes to write specifications similar to those of the two trucks he
purchased in 1985, with an option for diesel engine added. There is some
advantage in having diesels in longevity of engines. The long range plans of
both Parks and Public Works had called for replacement of these trucks in five
to seven years. Based on the condition of the two purchased in 1985, he will
probably recommend replacement in seven to ten years.
Street Sweepinp;
Raddatz plans to prepare specifications and advertise for bids for street
sweeping in the next few weeks, and bring cost information to the next meeting
of this committee.
. Water Main Break
Raddatz reported another water main break on Old Highway 10, just north of
Valentine Avenue. Committee briefly discussed replacing this old pipe, noting
that it needs to be replaced with a bigger pipe.
Villap;e Buildinp;s Inspection
Don Zehm will informally inspect Village buildings to determine whether they
meet OSHA standards; report will be brought back to this committee.
. Committee supported this action.
Council Report
Counci1member Hansen reported on Council actions of interest to this committee.
She invited Committee members to join her on the RCLLG tour of the Newport
recycling facility on April 22. She also recommended calling the Met Council
to obtain any information they may have on recycling programs.
Ad;ournment
The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
Submitted by Shirley Marshall
**********
THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY/WORKS COMMITIEE WILL BE HELD
.
