/~ l~~
.
MEMORANDUM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: March 27, 1987
To: Arden Hills Council
From: Robert W. Raddatz
Re: Tractors for Parks and Public Works Department
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been researching replacement of the two tractors that the City
owns. I am trying to combine as much as possible into these tractors.
The tractors are both in the Parks Department budget for.maintenance
purposes; however, the Case is split four ways (Streets, Water, Sewer and
Parks) . The Massey Ferguson is entirely in the Parks Department budget.
In 1987, $40,000 is scheduled for tractor replacement, in 1988 $17,000.
I would like to suggest that both tractors be ordered at the same time,
since we can get a better price doing this. The dealers I have talked
with say they will accept $40,000 down and the balance in January of 1988.
. The tractors would compare in size with what we now have. So far I have
looked at John Deere, Case and Ford. All are reputable dealers, and have
parts and service available.
Specifications are currently being prepared; these will be ready for the
April 13 Council meeting. As with everything we order, there is some time
lapse between order and delivery, approximately 120 days.
The possibility of purchasing used tractors is also being explored.
John Buckley concurs with my recommendations.
.
