v ,
MEMORANDUM
. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: March 27, 1987
To: Arden Hills Council
From: Robert W. Raddatz, Public Works Supervisor
Re: Lift Station Alarm System
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Continuous problems occur with our present alarm system.
To correct some of these problems, the alarm panel needs to be moved to
the Public Works Building. This would remove noise and confusion in the
Administrative Offices, and would allow us to test the alarms on a routine
basis to ensure their proper operation.
Since the system was set up, we have had many deletions and additions to
the system. In addition, there are two separate alarm boxes, from two
separate suppliers; going to one system would hopefully simplify repair
and trouble-shooting problems.
The telephone lines that serve the alarms go to the Public Works Building;
in moving the alarm system, locating these lines and carrying them through
. would be the most difficult job.
In some instances we have had people at night meetings shut off the alarms
when they go off, thus not allowing the signal to go to Electro Watchman.
This means the alarm goes unheeded until someone comes in the following
morning.
Funds are provided in the 1987 budget for moving the alarm system.
I will be looking into this further and will bring more information and
costs to a future Council meeting.
~
'1~
q,
\;~
~
'i'9- \,l
.
