<br />Minutes of the Reg~ <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />Council Meeting, August 10, l~ <br /> <br />DRAINAGE COMPLT. <br />TILLER & DELLWOOD <br /> <br />Council was referred to a letter from Forrest Bear, <br />1234 Tiller Lane, relative to proposed building on <br />property in his area that is considered by the <br />neighbors to be a holding pond. <br /> <br />Council was referred to a memorandum from the Zoning Administrator, 6-25-87, . <br />which advised that the home constructed at 3350 Dellwood Avenue was granted a <br />variance by the Board of Appeals and permission from Rice Creek Watershed to <br />modify the flowage easement on the property. <br /> <br />A copy of the Planner's letter to the owner of the property (8-7-87), was also <br />reviewed. Miller advised the owner of the vacant lot (Lot 13) on Dellwood <br />Avenue to contact the City Engineer to ensure that the City's concerns <br />regarding drainage in this area are addressedj also advised the owner to pursue <br />Rice Creek Watershed approval. <br /> <br />. Council concurred that staff direct a letter to Forrest Bear which explains <br />that the City cannot deny use of a lot of record and respond to the other <br />concerns listed in the letter; also to thank Mr. Bear for bringing the matter <br />to the City's attention. <br /> <br />TREASURER REPORT <br /> <br />RESIGNATION OF <br />TREAS. D. LAMB <br /> <br />Council was referred to a letter from Donald Lamb <br />advising of his resignation as Village Treasurer, to <br />be effective no later than August 31, 1987. <br /> <br />Council concurred that a letter of thanks for service to the Village and <br />extending their best wishes be sent to Don Lamb. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Moved by Hansen, seconded by Peck, that Council accept <br />with regret the resignation of Donald Lamb from his appointment as Village <br />Treasurer and, furthermore, that staff send a letter on behalf of the Council <br />extending special thanks and best wishes to Donald Lamb. Motion carried <br />unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />TREASURER APPTMT. Mayor Woodburn reviewed the duties of Village Treasurer <br />and laws regarding appointment of the treasurer; per <br />the Minnesota League of Cities Handbook. He recommended for Council <br />consideration the appointment of Frank Green to the position; noting Green is <br />currently a resident of Arden Hills, residing on Colleen Avenue, he is employed <br />by Burlington Northern as Assistant Treasurer in charge of Accounting and <br />Investments. Green has a degree in economics from University of Duluth and is a <br />C.P.A. Mayor advised that Green was unable to attend the meeting this evening, <br />however, if Council would like to meet with him arrangements could be made. <br /> <br />Moved by Hansen, seconded by Peck, that Council ratify <br />the appointment of Frank Green as Village Treasurer for the City of Arden . <br />Hills. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />REQ. LT. BRIGADE Councilmember Peck referred to the letter from the <br />Light Brigade; regarding donations from Pot O'Gold <br />Bingo Parlor. Council concurred that a letter be sent to the Light Brigade <br />advising them to contact Louis Walsh or Jim Adams with this request. <br /> <br />SUBURBAN YOUTH SERVo Councilmember Hansen referred to the letter from the. <br />North Suburban Youth Services Bureau; regarding the <br />County eliminating 1988 funding for the Bureau and requesting Council support <br />by sending a letter to Ramsey County to include funding for the program in the <br />1988 Ramsey County budget. Council discussed .whether or not this matter should <br />be addressed indiVidually or as full Council; if the matter should be referred <br />to the PS!W Committee and should the Village continue involvement. <br /> <br />RAMSEY COUNTY Mayor Woodburn recommended that a letter be sent to <br />LIBRARY BLDG. Ramsey County requesting they promptly proceed with <br />their library facilities plan and that we would like <br />to see the administrative buildings in the north suburbs. Council generally . <br />agreed to send a letter to ~ey County. <br />
