PROJECTIONS
The following projections were made using the "straight-line" method based upon .
anticipated population growth. The 1977 population of Arden Hi lis is estimated
at 6,250 people. The Systems Statement Subcommittee of the Planning Comm-
ission has projected a saturation population of 11,225 people. This represents
an 80 percent increase in population.
Using a factor of 80 percent, future space needs are estima'ted as follows:
1. Public Works/Parks and Recreation Focility:
7,090 square feet (Current space requirement) x
180% = 12,762 square feet
2. Village Hall:
3,250 square feet (Current space requirement) x
180% = 5,850 square feet
Based upon the above space projections, future parking demands are estimated
as follows:
1. Public Works/Parks and Recreation Facility:
20 spaces (based on employment information from Public Works
Director). .
2. Village Hall:
50 to 60 'spaces (based upon parki ng demand of largest place of
assembly. Assumes assembly room expansion to a capacity
of 100 to 120 seats and a parking ratio of ~ space per
seat).
Since public meetings are rarely, if ever, conducted during normal business
hours, parking €.or staff and Village business activities can be accommodated
by the 50 spaces. If properly located, Village Hall parking may also serve the
demand of the Public Works staff. The total parking requirement for the site
will, therefore, be between 50 and 80 spaces, probably at the lower side of
this range. This parking demand will require 15,000 to 24,000 square feet of
site.
-3- .
-~"-'._'--_.
