<br /> ------------- _________ ___on _n_ _ ------------ <br /> . <br /> Minutes of the Arden Hills Planning Conunission Meeting, 7-11-90 <br /> Page 4 <br /> CASE #90-09 (Cont'd) The Planner reviewed the considerations listed in his . <br /> report as relate to ordinance compliance, site <br /> arrangement, traffic, grading and drainage, signage, lighting, landscaping, <br /> general appearance and function. <br /> Bergly also reviewed areas of concern, items A thru G, pages 5 and 6 of his <br /> report . <br /> Dennis Foster, applicant, and Norm Wells, architect for the project were present <br /> to discuss issues raised by Planner Bergly. <br /> Foster stated he is willing to work with staff regarding the areas of concern <br /> outlined by Planner Bergly. <br /> Chair Proffit expressed concern that all development of the site will be on the <br /> east parcel, on Lexington Avenue. He questioned if the applicant had considered <br /> alternative arrangements of l:.uildings on the site. <br /> Foster advised that the west parcel of land is l:asically undevelopable due to <br /> poor soil conditions; the westerly portion will not support a structure; asked if <br /> Commission could offer ideas for utilization of the land. <br /> Commission suggestions included; additional parking, recreational structures, or <br /> gardens . <br /> The real estate agent for Control Data Corporation questioned if the City would . <br /> be interested in utilizing the land for recreational activities. <br /> Chair Probst stated staff would have to review the site and detennine if it will <br /> be sufficient for recreational uses. <br /> After discussion, Commission concurred that issues of concern outlined by the <br /> Planner should be. addressed by the applicant and that the proposed location of <br /> all structures on the site is not acceptable. Chair Proffit suggested the <br /> applicant consider the quality of surrounding development and attempt to provide <br /> an acceptable alternative plan. <br /> Commission was referred to a memorandum from Building Inspector Kriesel, dated <br /> 7-2-90, relative to compliance with l:.uilding and fire codes as relates to <br /> air-supported structures. It was suggested that the applicant contact the <br /> l:.uilding inspector to review area of concern listed in the memorandum. <br /> Martin moved, seconded by Zelnn, to table Case #90-09 to <br /> the next regular cOrrmUssion meeting held Wednesday, August 1, 1990, at 7:30 p.m., <br /> to allow the applicant t:iJne to address the issues raised by the Planner and <br /> Building Inspector and to consider alternative site development plans which <br /> address the Commission concerns regarding exterior l:.uilding materials, site <br /> layout, parking, lighting, landscaping, and utilization of only the easterly <br /> portion of the property. Motion carried unanimously. (6-0) <br /> Member Woodburn left at 9:00 p.m. . <br /> STREET LIGHTING Mayor Sather appeared before Carrnnission to discuss a <br /> request from Council for all citizen committees to review <br /> and make recommendation regarding a request for decorative street lighting in the <br /> City. <br />
