<br />. TASK STATEMENT <br /> Major Responsibility Areas: <br />. l. Organize and direct the operation of public works activities <br /> including supervision and review of maintenance personnel in <br /> streets, water and sewer. <br /> a. Review the maintenance needs of the city and make <br /> routine assignments (work schedules). <br /> b. Assign personnel as emergencies arise. <br /> c. Supervise maintenance personnel as required and conduct <br /> annual performance appraisals. <br /> d. Review all job assignments upon completion and spot <br /> check work in progress. <br /> e. Maintain time sheets and schedule overtime as required. <br /> f. Organize and provide training for maintenance employees. <br /> 2. Communicates regularly with city Council, consultants, staff <br /> and community residents regarding service delivery, <br /> complaints and problem solving. <br /> a. Maintains routine communication with city Council via <br /> written reports, attendance at Council meetings and <br />. on-going liaision activities. <br /> b. Maintains routine communication with city consultants <br /> such as attorney, engineer and planner regarding <br /> development, infrastructure problems and more <br /> efficient/effective management of service delivery. <br /> c. Maintains routine communication with department heads/ <br /> staff by regular attendance at staff meetings, daily <br /> discussion of problem solving strategies and written <br /> communication. <br /> d. Receives citizen concerns/complaints, evaluates and <br /> develops strategies for problem solving in conjunction <br /> with City council, staff and consultants. <br /> e. Conducts intergovernmental relations activities by <br /> attending meetings with other governmental agencies, <br /> written communications and coordinating completion of <br /> construction projects with other jurisdictions. <br /> 3 . Plans and coordinates all purchases of goods and services for <br /> street, sewer and water. <br /> a. Determines proper equipment and deal with <br />. specifications, bidding quotes and acquisitions. <br /> -.--- <br />
