Mayor Kennedy <br /> suggested and the Council agreed that action on the acceptance of the budget be <br /> withheld until the next Council meeting. Matter referred to Atty. Courtney to <br /> contact the County Assessor's office for an extenslo- of time on accepting the <br /> budget. <br /> REPORT OF AllY. COURTNEY <br /> Vessey-ThompSOA Matter <br /> Atty. Courtney submitted a letter, dated Oct. II, 1965, which Informed the Councl I <br /> that the necessary easements have been prepared and the deeds have been approved <br /> by the attorneys f~r the Thompsons and the Vesseys. Atty. Atty. Courtney read a <br /> portion of the resolution and summarized the balance because of the length of the <br /> legal desclptlons Involved. <br /> Deputy Clerk Florence Honan In-Formed "tha Council that a checl< for $100.00 had been <br /> received from the Thompsons. <br /> Trus"tee Crepeau moved, seconded by Trustee Nethercut, that a resolu-rlon be adopted, <br /> as per attached, approving the sale of certain portions of Village owned lot 19 -ro <br /> Allen Vessey and David Thompson for a total of $500.00 and the granting of ease- <br /> ments -ro "the Village; motion carried. <br /> Land Acquisition <br /> In reply to an Inq~lry from Mayor Ke-nedy regarding the recommendation from the <br /> Parks and Recreation Committee to purchase land for recreational purposes, Atty. <br /> Courtney Informed the Council that he had written a letter to Trustee Bjrondahl, <br /> with carbon copies to Clerk Lorraine StromquIst and Mr. Lagerstrom. Sa i d 1 e-r-ter <br /> explained that under the State Statute the Village could purchase property with <br /> a five year contract to pay; this Statute provides that If the Vi Ilage defaults In <br /> payment, the property reverts back to the seller with no compensation to the <br /> Vi llage. <br /> Trustee Nethercut stated that Mr. Husby has already agreed to this arrangement; <br /> Trustee Nethercut moved, seconded by Trustee Crepeau, to authorize Atty. Courtney <br /> "to draw up an earnest money contract for the Husby property under the 5 year <br /> contract; motion carried. Atty. Courtney will contact Trustee Sjorndahl on this <br /> matter. <br /> There was CouncIl discussion concerning the purchase of the Perry property, bocause <br /> of the house .located on the property. Ma~r Kennedy and Trustee Crepeau both felt <br /> that the house Is nice but poorly located, and, therefore, would attract very few <br /> buyers. Mayor Kennedy believes the Village should consider buying the property <br /> . without the house If possible; he Is opposed to gambling on the house. Mayor <br /> Kennedy requested Mr. Lagerstrqm to sO Il1form Trustee Bjorndah I . <br /> REPORT OF ENGR. LLND <br /> Oak Avenue Street Matter <br /> Engr. Lund reported that Oak Avenue has settlings due to the sewer Improvement add <br /> Is In need of repairs; he will contact the contractor about corredlve work. Mayoe <br /> Kennedy felt that we cennot -expect the property owners to pay for such a street <br /> , Improvement. He requested Engr. Lund to submit cost figures for eorrectjve work <br /> and also to determine which contractor Is responsible for this condition. Mayor <br /> Kennedy stated that this should be taken care of before winter. Engr. Lund Informed <br /> the Council that he will have "the answers at the October 25 Council meeting. <br /> Storm Sewer Matter <br /> Village received a letter, dated Sept. 27, 1965, from Milner W. Carley & Assoc. <br /> which requested permission from Arden HIlls to replace a culvert on Thom Drive as <br /> -3- <br />
