<br /> Arden Hills Counci 1 12 April 27, 1992 . <br /> SALARY INCREASE FOR <br /> PARKS DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES <br /> Council reviewed Parks Di rect Ot- I John Buckley's report which <br /> ceeommended 3% pay increases for Parks Depa r.tmen t employees <br /> David Winkel, Kevin Fuller, and Fred Bell. Buckley stated <br /> he recommended the 3% increase because the three employees <br /> are very productive and for fairness and morale purposes, he <br /> would like to see their salary ranges remain comparable to <br /> the Public Works Department. <br /> Councilmember Malone stated that he had discussed this <br /> salary issue with Buckley before this evening's meeting and <br /> noted it is incumbent upon the Council to seriously follow <br /> t.he City's pay plan which was set up to "scale downl1 <br /> salaries in an effort to comply with Comparable Worth. <br /> Malone also pointed out that the classifications of the jobs <br /> of the Parks Department and the Public Works Department are <br /> somewhat different. <br /> , <br /> Mayor Sather stated that some employees are under a union <br /> contract which was negotiated before comparable Worth was a <br /> factor. councilmember Mahowald added that the Council does . <br /> not have the same input regarding the Public Works <br /> Department salaJ:ies as the PaJ:ks Department since publie <br /> \-JoJ:ks employees are represented by the union. <br /> MOTION: Malone moved, seconded by Hicks, to bring the three <br /> permanent PaJ:ks Department employees' salaries to <br /> 107.3% of midpoint or $13 . 47 per hour. Motion caJ:J:ied <br /> unanimously (4-0) . <br /> EXTENSION OF SICK LEAVE FOR <br /> PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE <br /> Council J:eviewed Public Works SupeJ:intendent, Dan Winkel's <br /> repoJ:t which recommended extending sick leave benefits for <br /> Public Works employee Fred Reed and outlining the conditions <br /> of such action. <br /> MOTION: Hicks moved, seconded by Malone, to direct staff to <br /> utilize the remaindeJ: of Fred Reed's sick leave, <br /> utilize 100 hours of vacation leave, grant 29 hours of <br /> extended leave, and J:equest a progress report on Mr. <br /> Reed's condition for presentation at the May 25 J:egulaJ: <br /> Council meeting.
