.
Arden Hills Council 3 Ap ri 1 27, 1992
The following comments\questions were received from the
audience:
Rollin West, 1150 Tiller Lane: In favor of the project.
Gene Ward, 1242 Tiller Lane: Should consider doing the
project next year. Dunlap and West Round Lake Road are in
worse need of repair.
Gene Novak, 1190 Tiller Lane: In favor of doing project
this year.
Ray Hjort, 1151 Tiller Lane: Tiller Lane has been in bad
condition for many years and should be redone now.
Robert Emery, 1138 Tiller Lane: In favor of doing project
now; if won't get any cheaper to do later.
Betty Farr, 3327 North Dunlap: Not in favor of the project.
Does the April 15 letter to residents represent the low bid?
If so, why is the assessment amount the same as estimated at
. "he February public hearing?
Maurer explained t.hat residents were presented with
estimated figures at t.he February public hearing. At that
time I t.he project was amended which raised those estimates.
The lowest bid recently t"eceived was 17% less than the
amended estimate, the final result was that. the assessment.
amounts, as reflected in the April 15 letter, are very c 1 os e
to the amounts presented in February.
Wayne Bond, 1326 Tiller Lane: It appears there are two
separate groups of residents here tonight - those from the
upper portion of Tiller Lane who generally support the
project and those from t.he lower portion of the street who
generally do not support the project. Perhaps upper Tiller
Lane could be completely reconstructed and lower Tiller Lane
just overl ayed,
Carl Nordquist., 1171 Tiller Lane: In favor of the project.
How will driveway aprons be handled? Wi 11 the assessment
figures provided U1 the April 15 letter be subject. to
change?
Maurer explained that the typical driveway apron goes four
feet up the resident's driveway and is matched as well as
possible with the existing driveway surface. Maurer and
. Mayor Sather explained that if Council adopts the assessment
roll, upon which the April 15 letter was based, there will
be no changes to the assessment amounts. Sather assured
that if there is a cost overrun, only the city cost
participation will be affected.
